International Volunteer Visits July-August, 2014
  • A very successful visit. Two Motherless Children’s homes were visited and gifts from donors were presented. In one of the homes (the one run by the Catholic Church), the children were better cared for and they had a natural progression from infanthood to toddlers to play school to primary and then to secondary school while the Red Cross’s left more questions unanswered.
  • Two ten year olds in varying stages of distress and abuse were supported, thanks to Katherine Hyland, Kim Murphy, Evelyn McFadden and Larry Connell whose donations of €10,€30,€25 and €25 made this process possible and to two of my former colleagues who have now taken on the responsibility of their sponsorships through school.
  • We are at the early stages of starting a lasting collaboration with local services to support women in abusive relationships and young girls at risk.
  • While there, three (3) requests were received for support for young children whose families have fallen into difficult times and so unable to support them through school. We will on their behalf, accept assistance from all who are willing / able to assist.
  • Please we are now collecting clean and reusable clothing for the December visit.
  • In November 2017;
  • 3 twenty kilograms Clothings & Footwears baggages were Shipped to war torn countries for women, men and children. Very many thanks to all who contributed and to our in-country partner 'Somadina Foundation' who paid the shipping costs; as we prepare for 2019 batch shippment.
